MFCN Meeting - July 2021

This was a good day. It was the first time we as a network were able to come together in person for 18 months. The atmosphere was almost giddy because it was wonderful to see our colleagues, co-workers and friends after such a long absence.

Not only did we meet in person, but we had our ever present audio line PLUS for the first time, an online, interactive communication channel. Between the three mediums, we had a record 80 people attending! People were definitely ready to get back together.

The topics of this meeting were: VTARNG deployments, Soldier & Family Readiness Groups (SFRG) and Yellow Ribbon. By this date, the VTARNG had in excess of 600 soldiers deployed to

several parts of the globe: EUCOM, CENTCOM, and AFRICOM. Our Rear Detachment/Brigade Administrative Officer, LTC Hearn updated the network of where we were in the deployment status. These were quite complex deployments given the many task forces happening at the same time AND during a pandemic.

We were also so please to have Jessy Smith-our illustrious State Volunteer Soldier and Family Readiness Leader (SFRG). Jessy has been invaluable because she has been keeping our SFRG leaders informed on what is happening on the deployments as well as being the liaison to all the wonderful community partners wanting to help. Jessy has been at the forefront of these efforts and we could not do it without her!

Hopefully, our next meeting will also be in person: Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Our meetings are held at our Northfield Armory and take place from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.
